Cockroach Control

Species decides the whole plan, so we name it before we quote it. German cockroaches — small, tan, two dark stripes behind the head, usually found in the hinge area of kitchen cabinets, under the dishwasher, or on a fridge motor — live indoors permanently and reproduce indoors. That job is a bait program, not a spray: gel bait in dozens of small placements, an insect growth regulator to shut down the next generation, monitors left behind so progress is counted rather than guessed. American and smokybrown cockroaches are the big reddish-brown ones that show up in a basement, garage, or ground-floor bathroom after heavy rain. Those live outdoors and wander in, so the work moves to sewer and floor drains, sump pits, crawlspace vents, garage door seals, and the exterior perimeter — often one visit plus a perimeter follow-up.

Slab-on-grade homes in Two Rivers, Villages at Two Rivers, and Chapel Grove have fewer harborage voids but tight expansion joints and plumbing penetrations that hold moisture. Older sections near Odenton Town Center and the MARC Station on the Penn Line have more rentals and more turnover, and German cockroaches ride in with secondhand appliances, moving boxes, and stored cardboard — a real pattern in a community with steady PCS traffic tied to Fort George G. Meade. In Riverside Woods and Patuxent Ridge, near the low ground along the Little Patuxent River corridor, the large outdoor species dominate after summer storms push Anne Arundel County storm drains.

When a program fits versus a single visit: if you have seen roaches in daylight, found dark speckling inside cabinet hinges, or smelled a musty odor under the sink, that is an established German cockroach population and one visit will not finish it — plan on the multi-visit program. If you found one large roach in the basement after a downpour and nothing since, a perimeter and drain treatment is usually the honest answer, and we will tell you that instead of selling a plan. The trade-off is real: the program costs more up front and requires you to be home for two or three appointments, but a single-visit spray on a breeding population knocks down the visible adults and leaves the egg cases, which is exactly how an infestation "comes back" four weeks later.

What we will not do: no fogging or bug-bombing occupied rooms — aerosol foggers scatter German cockroaches deeper into wall voids and adjoining units, making the next treatment harder. We do not require a blanket annual contract to handle one sewer roach in a garage. Prep matters and we will tell you plainly what to do — clear the sink cabinet, bag open dry goods, hold off on cleaning treated cracks — because bait only works if roaches can reach it and nothing competes with it. Every visit ends with written placement notes so you, or a landlord, or the next technician knows precisely where product went.
